Internet America of Demopolis has two
Access Numbers for Demopolis/Linden and
three
for Greensboro. The 289-0206, 624-7927 and 624-1437 access numbers are attached to a modem pool consisting of 56K V.90
digital modems.
The 289-4050 and 624-7010 numbers are attached to a modem pool which
consists of a mixture of 56K & 33K analog modems.
Our experience has shown that some users get better connect
speeds with the digital group and some with the analog group.
You may try both access numbers and use
whichever one gives you
the best service.

How to change the
primary dial-in number in the
Internet America (icon) in Windows 95/98/ME.
- Open "My Computer".
- Open "Dial-Up Networking".
- Right click once on the "Internet America" icon.
- Select "Properties".
- Enter the dial-in number you want to use
(without area code).
- Click "OK" to save.
If you sometimes encounter busy signals on your primary access
number, you can try the other number by changing it "on the fly".
How to change your dial-in
number "on the fly":
Windows 95/98/ME
- Open Internet Explorer.
- To stop the dialing, if needed, click the
"Cancel" button in the Dial-up Connection window.
- If your Dial-up Connection window shows
the dial-in number, you can change it here, then click
"Connect". If your Dial-up Connection window does not
show the dial-in number, click on the "Settings" button.
- Click "Settings", then
"Properties".
- Enter the dial-in number you want to use
(without area code).
- Exit by clicking "OK" until you
get back to the "Dial-up Connection" window.
- Click "Connect".

From your Windows desktop,
click on the Start Button, then click on All Programs, then go to
Accessories, then click on Windows Explorer

In the Folders List, click
on the + next to My computer, then click on the + next to Control Panel,
then click on Network Connections.

Click with your right mouse
button on the "Internet America" icon, then left-click on
Properties.

Under the General tab, click
on "Alternates".

Click "Add", then
enter the other dial-in number(s) for your area (eg. 289-4050). No
area code should be entered.

Make sure there are check
marks next to "If number fails..." and "Move successful
number...".

Exit by clicking OK, then OK
again.

Click the red "X"
to close Network Connections.
